Fawn Gonzales, LCSW
I am the embodiment of three generations of Social Workers. Like my mother and grandfather before me, I am dedicated to serving others using creative and person oriented approaches.
I have served youth and adults in a variety of settings. During my undergraduate studies at The University of Oregon I worked as a Behavioral Support Specialist for the Department of Youth Services delivering direct mental health services to adolescents on probation and also volunteered for Courageous Kids, a grief support program utilizing art therapy.
After graduating with my Bachelor's of Science I was employed as a Skills Trainer working in schools, homes and the community to support families as part of an Intensive Children's Team known as Wraparound Services. During this time I also volunteered with Wintersrping: Center for Living with Loss and Grief providing facilitation of children and parent bereavement groups.
While enrolled in my graduate studies at Portland State University I worked as a Youth Care Counselor, Child & Adolescent Treatment Specialist and Wilderness Field Instructor within traditional residential treatment settings and a non-traditional wilderness therapy drug and alcohol program. Concurrently, I completed year long practicums providing justice involved adult males in a prison setting life and self sufficiency skills and mental health counseling and therapy groups for college students at Linfield University.
After earning my Master's of Social Work degree I continued to serve my community in a variety of positions. I have provided therapy services to adults and facilitated a girls youth empowerment group within a homeless resource organization, developed program protocol and provided therapy services for after school programs as well as served as a Mental Health Specialist providing mental health services to individuals and families in a community mental health agency.
My appreciation of and commitment to the healing power of the therapeutic process has been furthered by my opportunity to work in a private practice capacity alongside other skilled clinicians at The Sharing Place, A Counseling Center and Orange County Mental Health Experts. I am an endorsed Parent-Child Interaction Therapist and am a Certified Infant Massage Instructor as well as trained in a multitude of "talk therapy" modalities. I am also a Registered Yoga Instructor and co-host retreats..
